Crock Pot Apple Butter
10 to 12 whole apples washed, cored and chopped
3/4 cup apple juice
1 and1/2 cups brown sugar
3 whole cinnamon sticks
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
Peel and core apples. Add to crock pot. Add applejuice, sugar and spices. Turn crock pot to high and bring to a bubble. Turn on low and cook for 6-8 hours. Stir the apples about every hour or two. Apple butter is done when it has a deep color, apples are cooked to pieces, and it has thickened. Remove cinnamon sticks. Use a hand blender or food processor to make it smooth and creamy.
Sterilize jars,lids and rings
Fill the jars leaving about a 1 inch head space.
When all jars are filled, place in a hot water bath for 15 mins
Remove and let cool on the counter overnight.
